A video that featured research conducted by Brian Lapointe was recently awarded with a Suncoast Regional Emmy®. The video, "Toxic Algae: Complex Sources and Solutions" directed by Melissa Harmon and produced by South Florida PBS investigated the relationship between Lake Okeechobee, nutrient pollution, and algae blooms in the St. Lucie Estuary. Lapointe attended the PBS 10th Anniversary of Changing Seas where it was announced that they won the Emmy for "Toxic Algae" (pictured right). Also nominated for a Suncoast Regional Emmy® within the "Environment" category was another video featuring Lapointe's research, WPTV's "Saving the Last Living Coral Reef in North America" by Jay Cashmere. This story featured Lapointe's research on long term water quality, climate change, and coral loss.
